My friend was 70 when he was diagnosed. He did a couple of rounds of chemo. Decided that it wasn’t worth it. Many people asked and suggested that he try natural or alternative treatments. He turned them all down. He said, “ right now I still feel pretty good. As his illness progressed his wife asked if I would make that ice cream for him again. He had really loved it. Towards the end it was the only thing he wanted to eat. Still miss him.

Yes, I knew someone who refused cancer treatment – she was my beloved wife of 27 years. She was diagnosed with inoperable, terminal lung cancer in July, 2012. Lung cancer tends to spread quickly. She was told that she had 6 months to one year. Treatment ( chemo) would, potentially, delay her death by 6 months. She made the decision, to not have treatment because she felt the that the side effects of chemo would lower her quality of life to no avail. She enjoyed the rest of her life to the fullest and passed away in January, 2013. I re-married in July 2018 to another wonderful woman. She was diagnosed with breast cancer between our engagement and our wedding. Her cancer was discovered at an early stage and she has completed treatment. It wasn’t fun but the 5 year survival rate for her situation is over 99.9 %. We look forward to the future with great optimism.
