I do not play this game, but I know that Minecraft is not just regular video game. Bad enough if you delete game saves. But Minecraft is art. People build amazing things in this game. I don’t play but I understand principle. I like to sew cosplays. My Sir likes to write stories. Deleting your son’s world would be like burning my sewing or Sir’s stories. Can you imagine how many months the picture from above could have taken? Many I would say. There’s only one possible scenario where I can see you deleting his Minecraft world, and essentially forcing your hand. That instance is if the world itself is detrimental, and something either grossly offensive, vulgar, promoting violence, racism, sexism, or intentionally inflicting harm to the world. If the Minecraft world contains for example Nazi Propaganda or giant Ejaculating Phalluses, maybe hate speech sprawled across the background. Those are the few instances where I think deleting the world is essential. If it’s something that you want to spare subjecting the world to due to the detrimental effect it could have on society. Also, depending on how young your child is, these could be some deeply rooted problems if this is indeed the case. Otherwise.. you should never marginalise your Kid’s creative outlets. Even coming from an Indian/Asian parent, my dad even though he never understood my hours of gaming, and would rather have me studying/reading, could see the value. I ended up writing my first computer game at age 12 (even won a Japanese coding contest hosted by Enix), and to this day am a software developer, and still on occasion write and code indie games. This all started with playing games and creating content/worlds. Though my father never equated playing games to having a career he supported it by not intervening. He would never delete any of my gaming content or Minecraft worlds (in this case). Although you may not understand the inherent value, let me assure you it does exist, though fruits of labour aren’t fully realised or apparent at surface level, it is still there.

How many hours go into a minecraft world? For my kid I know she has about 400+ hrs logged between her ps3 – ps4 – and ps5 games.
